If the patient or patient family is faced with complex medical issues or difficult treatment decisions, second opinions are a great way to confirm the diagnosis and gather expertise input into their care plan. Access our specialists from our Nationally recognized though leaders in their fields. Please note, a second opinion is not advised during Medical Emergencies or for immediate treatment guidance needs.
We offer two options,
  • You Choose: - You choose the physician from the available list and our team will work with the physician to get appointment as soon as possible.
  • Let us choose: - We will carefully review your second opinion request and will determine which physician is most appropriate to handle your online second opinion case.
We will work with you to ensure medical records have been collected. From the time the medical records are collected, expect a response two to Four business days afterwards. This program IS NOT designed to handle medical emergencies or provide immediate treatment guidance.
If this is a medical emergency please immediately call your local emergency service number (911 in the U.S.) to get prompt medical attention, or go to your nearest hospital, emergency room, or urgent-care centre. Please do not rely on electronic communications for assistance with immediate, urgent medical issues.

Digital Second Opinion Program includes:

  • Access to a personal care coordinator and physician from KareOptions
  • Collection,digitization and submission of your medical records by KareOptions
  • Medical review by an expert
  • A written opinion from that expert specialist
  • Post-opinion follow-up for additional questions and referrals

The process is easy, convenient and secure.

  • Step 1. Create an account. Log in and click on the on the patient dashboard to begin your case. Alternatively, you can call between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. PST at 1-669-699-1574 after setting up an account online.
    Whether you open your case online or by phone, we will ask you to provide an email address, basic patient information, locations of existing medical records, and the question(s) you have about you or your loved one’s condition, so please have that information handy.
  • Step 2. Our Care Coordinator will collect all your medical records and choose the most appropriate physician to review your case based on the service you selected. Our care team does the legwork for you. All your information is handled securely to protect your privacy.
  • Step 3. The chosen expert will review your case and assembles your second opinion, addressing the specific questions you asked.
  • Step 4. A written opinion from the expert will be sent to you. A member of the care team will follow up if you have any additional questions or need referrals
You can upload your medical records on the patient portal. If required, our care team will collect all your medical records based on the physician locations you provide us when we create your case. If, however, you already have all of your medical records on hand, you can send them directly to our care team when creating your case, which will expedite the process.
Yes,we can offer OnDemand Second Opinion to international patients.
Currently, most health plans do not cover online second opinions or consultations, but you may elect to use your Health Care Saving Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
We are only able to process requests in English currently. All documents pertaining to your online second opinion must be translated into English prior to them being submitted to us.
We will send over a very thorough second opinion report addressing the specific questions asked during the second opinion request. The results of the report may agree with your original diagnosis or may offer additional treatment options. You should also plan to initially schedule time with your local treating provider to review the recommendations and work with him or her to refine your diagnosis, treatment plan, or plan of care. If you desire, we will be happy to extend the assistance in finding the right facility for your care.
